Philip Hunter Field, a native of East Orange, NJ, began studying piano at age 7 and by age 10 had made his Carnegie Hall debut. He co-wrote his first gold record, "Are You Single?" for Aurra (RCA/Salsoul) while he was at Oberlin Conservatory. Since then he has worked -- as record producer, composer, arranger, musical director and performer -- with countless artists on countless projects. As a key member of the group Mtume, he co-wrote songs for the hit albums, "Juicy Fruit" and "You, Me And He." He co-wrote and produced Roy Ayers' "Hot," perhaps the only song to ever make it into the beginning of a Michael Jackson video (uncut "The Way You Make Me Feel") and co-wrote Toni Braxton's multi-platinum hit "How Many Ways."
Phil's early film and television credits include Universal TV's"New York Undercover"and feature films "Native Son," "Jason's Lyric" and "Panther." His sound has been sampled often, by Jay-Z & Sauce Money, Teedra Moses & Raphael Saadiq, The Notorious B.I.G., Keyshia Cole and others. His collaborations include a wide range of artists – Gwen Guthrie, Mavis Staples, The Bar-Kays, Nancy Wilson, Gerald LeVert—and encompass many genres, from Broadway's James Naughton to R&B/Hip Hop artist Mary J. Blige. Phil writes and produces with his wife,Dee Jackson Field. Their production company, Jackson Field Music, recently released a new EP, #Deejacksonfieldproject, and plans to debut the first single from Phil's new album in the summer of 2018.

Philis Director of the North Jersey Philharmonic Glee Club, one of the country's oldest active male choral ensembles. He was also the group's accompanist and artistic director from 1995 to 2005. Previous appointments include ten years as music director at Trinity Episcopal Church in Montclair and directorships at Church of the Epiphany and Christ Church in Orange, First-Park Baptist Church in Plainfield and Trinity & St. Philip's Cathedral in Newark, NJ. He has served as accompanist and keyboard instructor for the Newark Boys Chorus. He is on staff in the Music Department at the Cicely L. Tyson Community School of Performing & Fine Arts in East Orange, where he was awarded the Key to the City for his outstanding achievements in the arts.
